Chiggers in Bed: How to Remove Chiggers Quickly

Skin and sweat cells on the mattress, food for the mites:

If you immediately fix your bed when you wake up in the morning, the tight sheets will catch millions of dust mites that live on your mattress that feed on dead skin cells and sweat, and potentially contribute to asthma and allergy problems. An unmade and open bed, however, exposes the bugs to fresh air and light and will help dehydrate and remove them.

Dr. Stephen Pretlove of the School of Architecture at Kingston University offers a simple explanation. When you make your bed, especially immediately after waking up, you are catching the heat of your body, your skin cells, and most important, your sweat, all over the bed. But leaving the bed unmade exposes the sheets to air and light, dries them and, therefore, depletes the possibility of mite life.

When we sleep, we sweat. The average person can sweat up to a liter of liquid per night. This creates an ideal breeding ground for mites. The reason behind this advice is to curb the number of dust mites that live in your bed.

Scientists estimate that there could be up to 1.5 million dust mites living in bed being fed by old skin cells that we leave on our sheets while we sleep.

It is not so much its existence as the real problem, but what it leaves behind. Their excretions can irritate and cause allergy and asthma attacks when inhaled.

How to Remove Mattress Bugs Quickly:

If you fix your bed directly after waking up, all the skin cells, the moisture of your sweat and the mites remain trapped under the sheets until bedtime.

Experts recommend making the bed after eating breakfast and changing sheets once a week – pillowcases up to twice a week if you suffer more clearly from the problems already exposed in the airways.

“We know that mites can only survive through the ingestion of water from the atmosphere using small glands outside their body,” said Dr. Stephen Pretlove of the School of Architecture at Kingston University.

“Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and the mattress so that the mites dehydrate and eventually die,” he added.

So yes, experts have recommended leaving the bed unmade all day – save this task for when you get home at night, but prepare it to sleep. Some ask, and when can we have the bed well made? You can do it when you consider it personally necessary, but if there is no need to have it done because no one else will see it like this, you can do it for a certain period of time to let the mites disappear from your bed if it was already with a need to clean it.

After a day’s exposure to fresh air and light, many of the mites in your bed will have died, leaving you to breathe fresher and fresher air. Do this regularly so your bed rests, cleans and leaves room to be able to fix it again for a period of time, especially if you are in hot weather where the beds can be lighter.

Joint Ways to Disinfect Mite Mattress:

You can also try along with this mattress cleansing exercise, disinfect it with baking soda and natural disinfectant essential oils such as thyme, tea tree, lavender or others. Simply sprinkle a mixture of baking soda with a few drops of essential oils with disinfectant properties on your mattress, and using a strainer scatter the mixture all over the mattress leaving it for a couple of hours. Then remove it with a vacuum cleaner. Do not forget to also wear protectors on your mattress so you can easily remove them to wash them. All this together will bring renewal and cleanliness to your mattress.
