What are the white Sticky discharges?

The physiology of leukorrhea fluctuates according to their application. The majority of the time, the exaggeration of these secretions is part of the process of self-cleaning of the vagina. Indeed, the white losses favor the evacuation of the dead cells and other residues that accumulate within the female genitalia. On the other hand, leucorrhea also plays a major role in lubricating the vagina, especially during sexual intercourse, to avoid intimate dryness. This is called vaginal transudation to describe the lubrication mechanism that underlies sexual arousal. At the end of the sexual intercourse, part of the sperm will be expelled at the same time as the white Sticky discharges under the effect of the libido.

White Discharges after Ovulation

White lesions are also composed of cervical mucus. This particular substance, secreted within the cervix, serves essentially as a rampart for pathogens that can penetrate via the female genital tract. But it also ensures a fundamental mission in the process of procreation since it is this which allows the circulation of the spermatozoa until the egg to fertilize. Thus, a few days before ovulation, the cervix produces a transparent substance, often more abundant than usual. This is a sign that the female body is preparing to accommodate male gametes. Quality cervical mucus is a sine qua non for good fertility. When the ovulatory peak is exceeded, the white losses, hitherto very fluid, will begin to coagulate and thicken.

White chunky discharge and Pregnancy

When a pregnancy begins, the hormonal changes undergone by the female organism will lead to an increase in leucorrhea. This natural phenomenon can be observed in the weeks following fertilization even if these secretory changes are not at all a manifest clinical sign of a potential pregnancy. For nine months, the levels of estrogen and progesterone will increase considerably. Thus, progesterone will contribute to the thickening of the leucorrhea while the estrogens will promote earlier cell death, necessitating, in fact, a more frequent vaginal self-cleaning. In addition, hypervascularization of the genital area at the time of gestation also contributes to the exaggeration of white lesions.

When should we worry about white watery or sticky discharge?

The vaginal flora resulting from a subtle bacterial alchemy, it sometimes happens that the equilibrium is broken under the action of certain fungi. In this case, the white losses change in appearance and assume an abnormal consistency or an unpleasant odor. Vaginal infections often cause irritation and itching very uncomfortable. In case of doubt, it is essential to consult a gynecologist, who is the only one able to diagnose the disorder and to put in place an adapted treatment.
